Clarion 12 is released

I Just received a new email with this text:

This is a followup message for edge cases where some users didn’t receive download links for Addon products. If you already have all your product downloads no action is needed.

It now includes download links for all the addons I’ve purchased in the past.

So I just got another email from sales, saying

This is a followup message for edge cases where some users didn’t receive download links for Addon products. If you already have all your product downloads no action is needed.

It included links for DFD (which they had sent in the email last week) and IP driver.

But not for in-memory driver.

Sigh…

BUT… I used the link structure they sent me for the IP driver download, made a guess at the folder name, made the zipfile name be of the same format as for my Clarion 11 downloads of IMDD… and the zip file downloaded.

I’d rather be lucky than good…

[EDITED to add] - sent an email to Sales and got a reply 20 minutes later with the official link and this explanation:

Apologies for the mismatch. I’m told that we have just recently migrated from SqLite to Cloud Postgres, and while we thought the migration was perfect, it looks like we found a few flaws either in the data migration or perhaps in our experimental driver for cloud-based databases using secure API, which would be great in the future for all Clarion developers!
Our apologies. Here is a link for your IMDD.

Hi Jane
Me too - although not as lucky (or smart) as you and so I’ve just emailed SV to try and get the IMDD download.
cheers
Rohan

Thanks, Jane, for the tip!
After trying very several changes, I was lucky too!

very spiffy email arrived.. upgraded format.. marketing at work?.. one has to realise that Clarion these days is no the older one where everything was compiled by the Topspeed compilers. Its now a mis mash of technologies and as Bruce has pointed out when they say something is new it doesnt mean its new and implemented across the full stack.. The IDE is in something.. calling other stuff in other stuff… Not expecting the IDE editor to support all the new stuff that might be supported in another componen that is written in another compiler …

After two coffees finally guessed it. Thanks Jane and Flavio

What kind of coffee? Maybe useful with other C12 issues.

Strong flat white! Needed to get the cogs turning first thing!

I just went to renew my CSP and i was expecting AnyScreen to be $800 it was $1000 like a new subscription. It said discount applied at checkout but nothing was adjusted. Thoughts?

Seems like a thing to ask their sales department about.

Yeah, they are not too responsive - I emailed about something on Monday and no response yet. Thanks.

I responded to the follow-up email attaching my original InMemory order acknowledgement, the download link arrived by email the next day courtesy of Gabriel.

Is there a way to copy all my CW11 options to CW12 - I finally has my environment set up the way I like it.

unicode may well be in the runtime dlls but that doesnt mean its in the clarion compiler yet or the IDE… 3 different stacks… now imagine you put your CPP code stack into the clarion compiler stack by your addins in the MAP and you get the picture.. . at the moment and perhaps for the future its a multi stack mix of products…

we will bring the linux binding projects over to the MS Platform (underway) and test clarion GUI runtime with the linux CPP binding service Class…callbacks in Clarion 12 .

I just opened both side by side. Only took about 10 minutes to clone.

I also would have noticed anything new in setup, which there wasn’t.

Clarion 3rd-Party Developers,

We have just released a new beta version of SetupBuilder 2025. The web update feature is not yet activated. Please download the complete installation image and use the “Update to a new version of SetupBuilder 2025” option. Notifications for the new beta version will be sent out via email on Friday. This beta build supports Clarion 12 for Clarion third-party developers.

I assume they’re moving to LLVM? Probably not a bad idea, if they can pull it off (and just as importantly, when?!?)

Here is the download link for Clarion Examples, but no lessons.

Hmmm. Where are the settings stored? Your 10 minutes weren’t enough for me. Still haven’t been able to duplicate what I have in C11.
