# Procedure in global embeds, inside global map doesn't start at begin line Why?

Hi All,

I have ie this procedure declaration inside the global map

```clarion
SubclassMDIChild PROCEDURE(LONG pHwnd, STRING pShortText),LONG

```

After running i get an error Expected: (,\*;

because it jumps to column 6  
before! it stayed on column 1

C11  
Single but big app

Any ideas?

Hi Dirk,

There are two ways to fix this.

First is to mark the embed a column 1

Or use the “short form” definition

```clarion
   SubclassMDIChild(LONG pHwnd, STRING pShortText),LONG

```

take the word PROCEDURE out, then it won’t need to be on column 1

I prefer to use the the “short form” definition rather than Column 1. If I copy the embed code into another App I won’t run into compile errors until I remember to go back and check Column 1.
