I’ve added a new Guide and companion Field Note to Ask Good Questions based on a major PageSnip architectural change and my experience moving the work between Claude and ChatGPT.
Our 10,000-page stress testing showed that PageSnip needed to move its navigation authority out of React memory and into SQLite. Claude helped design and implement that change, and the performance improvements were substantial.
But the session wasn’t consistently maintaining the startup and continuation documents needed for a safe handoff. When the thread became too long and the work moved to a new Claude session, the difference was dramatic.
The larger lesson wasn’t really about which AI writes the best code. It was that good code doesn’t replace a disciplined development process.
