Any hints as to whether it can create 64-bit applications?

None that I am aware of. You could try calling or emailing sv to see if it is on their roadmap.
(Not sure if @bob.ricketts is around to offer any info?)

Chatter I hear seems like people are pretty excited about Unicode support though!
