Hi, Omar,
I haven’t actually DONE anything with the template yet.
If it has a feature you really want to use that isn’t available in NetTalk, it’s probably worth it. Kanbans come to mind as an example.
I bought the template and DevExtreme last autumn for one particular feature that Andy demoed in a webinar. Unfortunately, by the time he actually released the version containing that feature the app for which I wanted it had been pushed down my stack of to-do and I still haven’t gotten back to it.
Then I thought of trying the DevExtreme in a new internal web app I started in January. That’s when I discovered that the DevExtreme menus don’t work with NetTalk 14.29 and above.
To be honest, I was a bit frustrated that even though I demonstrated the issue on a couple of webinars and nagged Andy at a couple more webinars, I couldn’t get Noyantis to try compiling their own demo app with NT 14.29 for more than two months and wound up tracking down the problem myself and creating a workaround.
Which is to say that Noyantis have many products - Clarion accessories and otherwise - and their priorities are what’s most important for their business… not necessarily for mine
Now that I figured out a fix for the menu with 14.29 I still thought I’d try using DevExtreme for a quicky two-week internal web app I need to throw together, but yesterday discovered I couldn’t figure out how to make an EIP checkbox work on a browse.
AFAIK, there’s no documentation for the templates other than the demo app itself, and I haven’t found an EIP example in that app.
I’ll try to ask Andy at next week’s webinar. He did some training on a preliminary version of his templates at the last CIDC and has announced that he’ll be doing more training on his products in a Saturday webinar in the future.
As for your question about responsiveness, since I haven’t built a “real” app all I can speak to is the demo app that Noyantis supplies. Below are a few screen shots, using Chrome 134.0.6998.166 and using the Developer Tools to show rendering as a Pixel 7. When the “phone” is vertical, there’s no menu (not good). When the “phone” is rotated, the menu works as expected. In either orientation, the browse rows seem a bit funky. Let me know if there are any other screen shots that would be helpful.
The cheapest way to experiment would be just to buy the templates for 380 pounds (US $492) and use the demo version of DevExtreme, which will put its branding bar onto the screen. Then buy the DevExtreme license for US $900 if you decide to go ahead and use it.
Hope that helps. These are just my opinions. This is the first Noyantis product I’ve purchased, so perhaps I’m handicapped by my lack of familiarity.
Jane
