Has anyone used both?
It looks like TxText is fairly standard and supported by a few templates.
Looking for pros and cons.

Depending on your actual RTF needs the built-in RTF support works pretty good.
I have it in 3 apps and have not really needed anything outside of it that I could not program around.
Just my personal usage observation.
I need to create Word Documents in the end.
I currently use Capesoft Office and the RTF control and there are formatting problems.
So, looking for something a little better.
Hi Paul,
You might want to take a serious look at xWordCOM, which is designed to be the ultimate Clarion integration for Microsoft Word.
https://www.clarionproseries.com/html/xwordcom.html
We are just wrapping up documentation for Version 5.0, a major update that has already been in the field for a couple of months and proven very solid. The official release with the updated docs (created with our ProHelp Studio) will be posted within a day or so, or I can get you the new build right now if you do not mind downloading the docs later.
This update adds 36 new class methods and introduces a powerful new feature that lets you pre-launch a hidden instance of Word when your program starts. That means when you open an MDI child window, your Word document appears instantly. You can move in and out of Word-based windows with no noticeable delay, and the background instance closes automatically when your app exits (configurable in the template).
Several of our heavy Word users have said this new background launch system is a real game changer for both speed and user experience.
Version 5 also includes full support for Clarion 12, the latest Microsoft Office releases, and a complete set of new demo apps and example code showing off all the new features.
It is fast, easy to use, and actively supported. In fact, many of the enhancements in this new version came directly from developer feedback from people using it every day in production work.
Leonid does a Clarion wrapper for TX Text control.
You dont need a MS Word licence but can save in Word Doc formats.
You can also then use the wrapper & TXText to do mailshots from within your clarion app quite easily.
Get the Spell Checker from Leonid as well.
It works with TxText and the clarion wrapper, but you can also use the spell checker elsewhere in your clarion app.
If you dont get an immediate response from Leonid, its because he’s a frequent flyer between Canada and Russia.
I sent you an email. Do you have a demo app using xWord ?
Hi Paul,
Apologies for the delay getting back to you but I was on the road all day yesterday.
Here is a link to the demos that ship with the class/template.
https://clarionproseries.com/download/xWordCOMDemos.zip
The OldDemo is one from when it was originally released. The NewFeatures on shows a walk through on the new class methods and the WordOnFrame shows how the prelaunch works and how fast Word loads/reloads in MDI child windows.
Of course these are functional demos and not a “pretty” one.
The new demos each have clear, well defined “this is how you implement it to do this” code written as routines called by buttons (or code templates if the case may be). The other demo is fully functional, but not always obvious when you are playing with the EXE as I think Alex and Evgeny were trying to show off what it could do rather than organize it by function.
Let me know if you have any questions or are looking for some specific task you need to do.
