.xsd schema to construct a.xml file?

I recieved a .XSD schema. I have to construct a .xml file via this schema.
Al least that is what I understand. Or do I have to check my .xml file with this .xsd schema ?
Can you advice what steps I have to take ? or how does this work ?

I wrote console prog in VS2015 for check xml by xsd. Very simple prog.
