Thunderbird Newsreader alternatives for SoftVelocity Newsgroup

Any recommendation for an alternative newsreader - tired of trying to get Thunderbird to work for the Clarion Newsgroup.

I have Thunderbird working fine. There was a change last year which needs some settings changing as documented by @CarlBarnes here
